Homemade Solar Panels
The growing need for energy for domestic use has led to the invention of modes to tap the robust and vast solar energy, and bring it into many homes as a way of cutting cost and meeting the rising demand. A homemade solar panel uses a simple aluminum or copper principle. These two materials are preferred due to their characteristic of conducting heat very efficiently.
Tubing - using either of these elements - is made so that water passes through and the tubing absorbs the solar energy and heats the water. The absorber plate taps the energy and distributes it evenly into the tubes. The absorber plate is made of aluminum and is framed so that it can maintain its dish shape. Glass is used as a covering or insulation so as to avoid loss of energy. It is recommended that one uses thin glass to allow up to 92% light transmittance to get good results.
This solar panel heats quite a substantial volume of water. A lot of people have installed the appliance into their homes for efficient water heating.
